Stories from the Road - Mangi and Tungi

The Most Meaningful Part of My Ride Wasn’t the Destination

During my recent ride to Mangi–Tungi near Nashik, I came across a few children playing in their backyard. What caught my attention was their bicycle.

Almost every part of it was broken. The handlebar had been recreated using whatever pieces they could find, and the damaged seat had been carefully put back together. What many of us might consider useless or throw away had become something meaningful to them—a reason to play, smile and enjoy the moment.

Travel keeps reminding me that inspiration is often found in the simplest places. That little bicycle made me realise that something no longer useful to us could bring immense joy to someone else. Before discarding things, perhaps we should consider repairing, reusing or giving them to someone who may truly value them.

Sometimes, the most powerful lessons come from people who do not even realise they are teaching us.

Just another story from the road—and from the people who continue to inspire me.
